Co-Operatives at your Convention!
Who we are:
Co-Operatives is a unique take on escape rooms that aims to make them bite sized experiences for small groups of players where everyone can contribute equally. Our format is a series of free-standing wooden walls with a bunch of puzzles built into them. Groups are split onto either side so that they only have access to half of those puzzles, meaning that both sides will need to communicate thoroughly to solve each puzzle. We are a Boston-based company that has operated for several years at PAX East and PAX Unplugged and are looking to expand even further. If you check out the Conventions tab, you can see a list of all our past and future conventions.
Attendee Experience:
Each experience is divided into 25-minute time slots with a brief 5-minute reset time in between each group. Attendees can reserve specific time slots by signing up either online or in person. They will then arrive a few minutes early to check in and when it’s their time we’ll walk them in and explain the objective. Hints are offered as needed, but are by no means necessary. Each experience is limited to 25 minutes and when their time is up, we’ll escort them out and answer any questions they have about unresolved puzzles.
Depending on the allocated space, we can bring up to 8 unique experiences with varying player counts and difficulty levels so that attendees have a wide range to choose from. We always try to bring a free experience as well so that attendees can still participate in some of the fun at no extra cost.
Pricing:
Our typical cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children. Payment can be handled online through our booking software, or in person via cash or card.
Hours of Operation:
We typically operate for as long as we can in whatever space is provided. For example, at PAX Unplugged we remain open until midnight each night at which point the entire hall closes.
Operational Needs:
Our experiences are very portable, so our whole operation can fit into a cargo van. We do not need a gate at the loading dock, but we do need access to a space that we can unload the van onto carts to roll into our space. For setup, each of our experiences fits into a 10’ x 10’ pipe and drape booth - We prefer for pipe and drape to be provided, but we can manage if that is not the case. Setup and takedown are quick and usually only take an hour or so, once again we can handle transporting all of our things.
We will be attending our space for all operating hours, so there’s not much of a need for provided security. We take all cash and valuables with us when we leave each night, so there isn’t much of value that’s easily taken when we are not around.
Preferred Layouts:
Our layout can be very flexible based on wherever you might want to put us. Each experience occupies a 10’ x 10’ pipe and drape square with a table and a couple chairs. These squares can be arranged in pretty much any configuration.
Each enclosed area would have a table for belongings, several chairs, and the puzzle wall in the middle. Outside of the curtained booths there would be a table for our usage to handle signups and check-in.
